2017년 ‘연대, 공유, 동행’의 정신으로 출발한 예술정치-무경계 프로젝트는 올해 3년차로, “갈라지거나 쪼개지지 않은 온래의 온전한 자연 상태”를 일컫는 우리말인 ‘온새미로’를 화두로 삼았습니다. 특히 금번 DMZ 답사와 전지 행사는 슈룹과 다국적 네트워크 나인드래곤헤즈와 협력 프로젝트로서, 과거와 현재 그리고 미래를 긴밀하게 연결하는 흥미진진한 예술 작업이 될 것이라 확신합니다.
Art Politic-Projict Border Crossing which started in 2017 with the spirit of solidarity, sharing, and accompanying is the third year by now. We focused on "ONSAEMIRO" as a main title which is a traditional Korean phrase, meaning the original whole natural condition neither split nor broken. In particular, this DMZ exploration and exhibition is a collaborative project with the international network Nine Dragon Heads & SHUROOP. We ensure that this project is an interesting piece of art that closely links the past, present and future.
예술정치-무경계 온새미로는 한국의 많은 아픔을 지닌 장소인 DMZ에서 이루어지는 특별하고 중요한 의미를 지닌 프로젝트로서, 이번 주제는 우리의 정치적, 도덕적, 지리적 경계 회복을 위한 지속적인 관심과 방법 모색에 관한 것입니다. 세계의 다양한 장소에서 진행되어 온 Nine Dragon Heads의 예술 탐험과 작업들의 주된 목표는 인간과 환경, 사람과 자연, 사람과 사회, 사람과 정치권력 사이에 있어 균형을 이루는 잠재적인 요소들을 찾는 방법으로서 예술을 사용하기 위함에 있습니다.
The project "Art Politics-Border Crossing / Onsaemiro" is especially significant as it takes place at Korea's most painful site that is DMZ. This is the subject that needs our constant care and searching for sensitive ways to restore the country in political, moral and geographical limits. All the times working at various of sites around the world NDH maintained its main goal to use art as a way to search for potential conditions of balance; between a human and an environment, a person and nature, a person and society, a person and political power.
예술의 행위는 DMZ에서 어떤 힘을 만들 것인가?
예술 혹은 예술의 어떤 형태가 이루어지는 것은 가장 예측 불가능했던 방법들과 결정들을 가능하게 만드는 편견이 없는 실험적인 공간이 있기 때문이다. 그곳에서 예술가들은 어떤 흥분과, 지식과, 경험을 가져오고 또한 어떤 것을 얻고 올 것인가? 이것이 “예술정치-무경계” 프로젝트가 제기하는 질문과 답들이며 찾아야 할 것들이다.
What is the power that art is going to exercise at the DMZ?
Art or that which constitutes this phenomenon is a prejudice-free, experimental space that makes possible the most unexpected approaches and decisions. What are the excitements, knowledge, and experience that artists can bring in or take from there? These are the questions the answers to which the project "Art Politics - Border Crossing" is going to search for.
경계가 지어진 한반도의 분단 현실을 다시금 우리 눈으로 직시하게 한다. 이에 ‘예술 정치’라는 화두를 바탕으로 지금 우리는 경계 안의 제한된 선택을 넘어 모든 경계들을 다시 인식하고자 한다. 그 경계를 걷어 낼 수 있는 정치적 방법 모색과 실천 행위를 자유롭게 실험, 연구하고, 예술을 넘어 다방면의 관점과 소통할 필요성을 느낀다. 이는 전 세계의 예술계가 노골적인 부패와 ‘투기’의 장이 되어 버린 형국에서 새로운 예술 실천 방안이기도 하다.
Let us see again the reality of divided Korean peninsula with our eyes. Now, based on the theme of 'art politics', we now want to recognize all boundaries beyond a limited choice within boundaries. We feel the necessity to freely experiment and research the political methods and actions that can break the boundaries, and to communicate with various perspectives beyond art. This is also a new way of practicing arts in the world where the beauty of the world has become a place of corruption and speculation.
